Part One: Introduction and Background to the Company

It is evident that we are living in an ever-changing society. There is a growing awareness in the business world to ensure that products are ecologically sustainable, meeting the needs of the present without compromising the future. With the above view in mind, I plan to set up an ecologically friendly beauty company, selling fragrant handmade cosmetics based on natural ingredients, essential oils and as few preservatives as possible. The company shall be called “Look Natural Feel Fresh”.

The objective is to provide a unique cosmetic product range, that includes traditional cosmetics but with a new and exciting twist. Our aim is to have the youngest, freshest products in the history of cosmetics (Marterella, 2005).

Our product range shall include, fresh fruit-based face and foot masks, froze shower gels, chocolate-covered massage bars, which can be massaged all over the body to scent and condition the skin, solid shampoo and conditioners, and huge hand moulded multi-coloured bars of soap, to be cut and wrapped in-store.

We believe in making effective products out of fresh fruit and vegetables, the finest essential oils and safe synthetics, without animal ingredients, and in writing the quantitative ingredient list on the outside (Wilkie, 2004). We believe in making our own fresh products by hand, printing our own labels and making our own fragrances. We believe that our products should be good value, that we should make a profit and that the customer is always right.

Part Two: Business Strategy

Our proposed strategy is to adhere to the following points:

The first step in order to be environmentally friendly is to recycle waste. Paper from mail and advertising can be recycled. This will allow the company to cuts costs and not waste money on dumping and incinerating. By cutting costs it will also allow the company to use the extra funds effectively, for example, developing and expanding the product range. It contributes to creating a 'green' atmosphere for the company, which in turn encourages various stakeholders such as investors, shareholders and suppliers to take interest in the company and become part of this unique, ever expanding business (Drucker, 1999).

In order to cut down on packaging the idea of refills will be used. For example, empty containers can be returned to our shop and refilled. If customers do this, they will receive a 10% discount on their chosen product (Dibb, Simkin, 2002). This promotes and encourages people to be environmentally friendly.

Ecologically friendly

The are two main government polices that must be taken into account, (1) Green taxes and (2)E.P.A (Environmental Protection Agency). Green Taxes are imposed on a company if it is found that they are damaging the environment. Look Natural Feel Fresh produces ecologically friendly goods, therefore, the risk of being fined is reduced. We do not test our products on animals. This promotes a 'green' reputation for the company and in turn hopefully a large amount of loyal customers (Herman, 2002).

The E.P.A carries out regular checks to see if companies ...
