Describe the strengths and issues related to current border security measures. Recommend alternative strategies.

Border and transportation security are crucial measures that are aimed to protect the American people form terrorists. While the provisions for transport and border security are essential and must-haves for every politically threatened community and country; it is a very complex issue that has to be kept in mind. The use of border areas under the process of integrating physical and economic security measures has its own particularity and consequences.

The integration processes between two or more nations have the peculiarity to highlight the contradictions arising from various rationales that guided the strategies of territorial State National, in times when the border was conceived as a closed and rigid boundary in the modern times, it is conceived as a necessarily, desirable and flexible action for the purpose of integration of different defense and security measures (Weintraub, 2010).

Territoriality points to the fact that human spatial relationships are not neutral; they are the result of influence and power, being the first form of territoriality that takes space power. The measures of border security indicate the fact that the state remains threatened with its neighbors and other countries, despite undertaking maximum defense policies. Then, territory protection involves the possession, use and control of one's own geographic territory.
