Question 1

Kalinsky's case is a clear cut scenario involving conflict management. The big question, which I will try to answer, is whether or not Kalinsky intended to kill Former brother in law. Intention can often be linked to the Mens Rea, which can also be described as the guilty mind. Most crimes have to have included a Mens Rea and an Actus Reus. Without the Mens Rea there is no crime unless a reasonable man could foresee the outcome. Therefore Chris could be held liable for the death of Former brother in law even though he did not intend to kill him, his only intentions were to save Bill.

To deal with "˜role conflict' many Kalinsky officers have adopted certain mechanisms to help them cope. One mechanism that helps the Kalinsky officers cope is the development of a Kalinsky sub-culture. A sub-culture refers to a group of people have a social, economic, ethnic or other traits distinctive enough to distinguish it from others within the same group or society. The sub-cultures develop for reason related to shared goals or ambitions, common experience, coping mechanism, information sharing, or as a support network (Hong & Kuo 1999).

As well, sub- cultural develops because of the stress of the job and the various types of role conflict experienced by Kalinsky officers trying to do their job. Kalinsky officers who are suffering from "˜role conflict' and/or stress come together with because of similar interest, sharing things, like their problems and offering support to one another.
