Balancing Feedback Loop

The case is related to the Smartphones. Palm Inc. manufactured the plastic casing for Smartphones that caused the failure and customers faced antenna problems. This was researched by the expertise. This problem connects with their design flaws that make the device drop the signals when the user covered the phone internal aerial. By researching and identifying the problem, they came to know that the problem has fundamental flaws in WebOS. This problem also included cross site scripting this could make a phone operation by remote control device. WebOS operating system is used in Smartphones manufactured by Palm. The issues brought up by Orlando Barrera and Daniel Herrera of SecTheory. They researched and identified the three critical flaws in Smartphones. These flaws were a floating point overflow issue, cross site scripting issue, and denial of service bug. The research study was presented by professionals in the association meeting. In accordance to Barrera, the problems and issues could be a threat to security and attacker may have a chance to destroy things. There are several issues and threats that could be created by the attacker. It could take remote command and control. With the help of Java Script, the attacker can slowly get control over user's device. This in the core is the basis of a botnet, with time and effort. Additionally the researchers used XML and HTTP in order to get access of local files system through “local host” (Carroll, Christakis, 2004). With the help of accessing the permission related to the Web users, the researchers acquired the access to read the local file system. This permitted them to gain access to receptive users data secured in the databases to remote servers under their control. These databases included contacts information, username, passwords, and unencrypted communication like Short Messaging Service and e-mail. Particular cross-site scripts inject flaw used by the pair demonstrates the attacks were fixed by Palm Inc. This happened with the help of WebOS 2.0 beta. Though, WebOS 2.0 remained vulnerable to the floating point overflow and denial of service issued.
