Introduction

The cervix is ??the bottom of the uterus or matrix and is commonly known as cervix. The cervix plays ??a very important role in maintaining a normal pregnancy. Cervical cancer accounts for 6 percent of all malignancies in women; this type of cancer is considered to be the second most common among women and comparatively more common in younger women. It mostly affects women aged between 35 and 55. This type of cancer can be caused by a virus (human papillomavirus) that spread through sex (Peto & Gilham, 2004).
