Child Pornography and The Internet

Introduction

The idea of child Pornography on the internet is very well alive and well. There are people who rummage around the black holes of the internet looking for Child Pornography or some call “Kiddy Porn”. Child Molesters are everywhere; the internet is a virtual playground for them to pry and hunt out children for their satisfaction. These reviews are both very opinionated views.

Child Pornography

Child pornography can be seen in many different ways. First of all I'll start off giving by giving a definition of what child pornography and pornography is and consists of. Pornography mainly means obscene art, writings, ect. Obscenity means offensive to modest sensibilities. In the year 1996, the definition of child pornography was expanded. Child pornography is "any visual depiction, including any photograph, film, video, picture, drawing or computer-generated image or picture, which is produced by electronic, mechanical or other means, of sexually explicit conduct, where

its production involved the use of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct, or

Such visual depiction is, or appears to be, of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct;

Such visual depiction has been created, adapted or modified to appear that an "˜identifiable minor' is engaging in sexually explicit conduct; or

It is advertised, distributed, promoted or presented in such a manner as to convey the impression that it is a visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct."

"Identifiable minor' is a minor who is capable of being recognized as an actual person by, for example, his face or other distinguishing feature or physical characteristic.

Pornography can be taken in many different ways and viewpoints. Some people believe that any picture, statue, etc., of somebody naked or partially nude is considered pornography. I personally don't believe this. Yes, I do believe that if the picture, book, movie, etc., was put out and published with the intention of being used with some sexual intention then I agree that this is pornography. But there are circumstanced where I believe that it would not be considered pornography because there is no sexual use or intention involved. This piece of work was created for fully artistic purposes and not for sexual ones.

I believe that it also depends on how you take something that helps determine whether it should be considered pornography or not. If you look at a nude statue or something and just using it for it's artistic value then I believe that is alright. You have pure thoughts about the piece of artwork. I believe that this is such a big part of the pornography issue because there are so many different items and interpretations that need to be defined more so we know what exactly we are dealing with.
