Introduction

A person's education is one of the most important factors in determining their career and their future. That is why when considering an education, the quality is almost as important as the education itself. Facing the technological revolution that we are going through without a good quality education a person will be left behind. Even though public and private schools are separate institutions, they have to follow certain guidelines so there are a lot of similarities between the two. Such as, both school systems have the intentions of giving their students the best education within their abilities. (Finn, J. D., Gerber, S. B., Boyd-Zaharias, J. 2005)

Both have educated people that have decided to devote the rest of their careers to challenge themselves in class and after class by doing extracurricular activities. They each have set up rules hoping to keep it a positive learning environment. They both use standardized testing as a tool to evaluate the progress of their students. They can also access the weaknesses from these tests to improve the curriculum that they have composed. They also have clubs like volunteer groups that help out people in their surrounding community. There are also student governments where students elect students to improve upon the learning environment in which they are. Schools also have extra curricular activities like sports where students compete against other schools where they learn different school spirit and how to work as a team. With all of these activities students can hopefully find something that they enjoy spending their free time. This also help keeps children out of trouble from and gangs.

Instead of following the National Curriculum, Steiner schools offer a balance of practical, social, artistic and academic activities with an emphasis which changes with the child's age and natural and individual needs. Denise Randall, kindergarten teacher at Lancaster Steiner School, said: "Often people are just looking for something different and more gentle and less stressful for their children. "We have more of a sense of well-being and a sense of community here. A lot of people come and find the atmosphere and the warmth very welcoming. "There are very good relationships between the teachers and the children, and they work in small mixed age groups which is very good for the children. "It's very family-based rather than the impersonality of a large school." Much of the learning at the school is through movement and activity, and the children learn practical domestic activities ...
