Church & Dwight is company that sells various packaged foods and maintains a well known portfolio of the personal care and household brands. Previously, the company had only one brand which was known and reputed in the world. The company now with many products is has sales of $2.5 million worldwide. The company has been doing pretty well in the last few years and has managed to improve its position; however, there are three problems that the company is experiencing. The first problem is competition. The company faces intense competition from companies like Unilever and P&G. From this aspect stems the second problem, size of the company. As compared to the multinationals, Church & Dwight is very small. The third problem that the company faces is the introduction and marketing of new products and diversifying its portfolio.

Summary Statement of the Recommended Solutions

The solutions mentioned for the above mentioned problems is that the company needs to revise its strategies and has to come up with strategies that will help it overcoming the problem of competing with other big companies in the industry. These strategies will also help the company in creating awareness of the company and the products so that the sales of the company are increased. The marketing of the company should be such that the consumers are attracted towards it. For this, the company can use social media for promoting the name of the company and the products that it offers. In this manner, the company will be able to make sure that the problems are resolved and that the company will be able to overcome the problems of competing in the international market and in creating awareness of the company and its products.

The Situation

Church & Dwight was formed by John Dwight and now is one of the most successful companies that produces and manufactures personal care products. When the company was formed, it was not as big as it is now; however, the growth of the company has been slow and steady. The product line of Church & Dwight is diversified and consists of the personal care products. This has helped it to compete with companies like Unilever and P&G.

Although the growth of the company has been slow and steady, the company has faced a few problems to succeed and this is the reason that the competition by the company has not been up to the mark (Cook, pp. 2).
