Abstract

In this study we try to explore the concept of a particular clinical application in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on a case study's patient and the clinical application that can be used on that patient. The research also analyzes many aspects of attention restoration theory and tries to gauge its effect on the patient's problem of less attention span. Finally the research describes various factors which are responsible for such behavior and dependent personality disorder and tries to describe the overall effect of such clinical applications.

Theories of family therapy are ranged from major theories and trends in family counseling and included a number of schools represented in the major theories of family counseling as follows:

Approach for the treatment of Bowen's family between generations

Structural family therapy

Strategic therapy

The theory that is chosen for this case study is Bowen therapeutic system. The field of family therapy and Bowen family system theory is now very broad. The theory consists of variegated working concepts. This theory has contributed to the effort done by the early Murray Bowen in the treatment of children and their families. Different approaches in the Bowen systems theory make an attempt to address a number of issues that arises in a family. One of the most important aspects and key in the theory of Bowen is how families can be moved and sends the psychological characteristics that affect the interaction of dysfunctional families, through several generations (Sluzuki, 2007).

The central focus in Bowen theory is the family, which is conceived of as a multigenerational emotional unit occurring in the context of nature. The following stages in the evolution of the Bowen theory will be discussed:

Differentiation of self

Triangulation

Emotional system of the nuclear family

The projection of family

Multigenerational transmission process

Sibling Position

Emotional cutoff

Societal emotional process

Differentiation of self

Differentiation of self is the ability to distinguish the mental processes or the thinking processes related to emotional feelings and private individual from the rest of the family members. For example, a child may face difficulty in explaining his thoughts, values and beliefs and rather depend on the family members and connect his thoughts with the thoughts of the rest of the family members. When no distinction is made between the ideas and feelings of integration and fusion occurs between them. A person is highly differentiated when well aware of his views and feelings (Hall, 2001).

Triangulation

When there is tension between two people within the family, it is likely that one of these individual would drag and bring another individual to this situation such as a close friend to relieve anxiety. This is called triangulation (Papero, 2003).

Emotional system of the nuclear family

The next concept is the emotional system of the nuclear family. The emotional system of nuclear family involves three areas.
