Clinical Research

Introduction

This paper intends to explore about basic research methods in accordance with the foundations of research provided by Portney and Watkins. Further, two articles will be assessed in order to identify their purpose of the research study, research problem, significance of the research and hypothesis of the research. Lastly, research questions will be written in accordance with the sources identified.

Discussion

Using the Worksheet for First Article

The first article selected for the research is qualitative. The purpose of the study was not stated clearly in the article. However, the purpose of the study in my opinion was to identify different variables that relate to the health factors of an individual within the context of United States (Balmes et. al., 2005). The criticism on health policy was also provided which served the purpose of creating a base for new and improved health policy implications. Phenomenon related to health issues was the basic purpose of this study.

Research problem was not clearly stated; however, in my opinion the research problem was to discover all the relevant variables that can affect a person's health negatively. Reasons behind premature death and diseases were also served the purpose of the study. The research topic tends to be extremely important for both the patient care and the clinical practices. In order to provide quality patient care, the professionals need to know the root causes behind the premature disorders and death. Quality of clinical practices can be enhanced if the proper evaluation of certain phenomenon like the causes behind premature death and disorders are explored evidently. The study is significant because of the fact that it provides a good overview of all the variables that can affect the person's health and for which studies must be conducted (Claudia, Klaus, 2011). If all the variables identified are addresses properly in the health policies, situations can become way better.

Hypothesis of the study was not clearly stated. In my opinion, the implied hypothesis was to prove the significance of variables like social status, neighborhood, employment, environment, personal behavior, health care, race and stress to the premature health disorders and premature death (Hayward, et. al., 2000). Further, hypothesis worked on creating awareness of about how all these factors impact the person's health. There was a need established to determine the root causes behind these factors in order to reduce the premature health disorders and premature death.

Moving on to the literature review part, the research showed an immense amount of literature review which was basically describing the justification of the study. Environmental components, performance components and self care component areas of the occupational therapy were studied. The facts regarding economic inequality were related to the factors that impact a person's health. The literature suggests that the amount of premature deaths would have been far lesser if the economic resources and distributions were distributed equally. Further an analysis of how environment influences health habits has been provided. Work hazards, education, the usage of drugs and alcohol and importance of nutrition ...
