Introduction

American Medical Technologies, Inc. was established in the year 1985. Its main purpose was to manufacture drugs and carrying out comprehensive medical research in the field of health. This was a government objective to improve health conditions of its citizens. It is therefore paramount for the American Medical Technologies, Inc. to maintain certain codes of conduct and ethical standards so as to ensure rules and regulations are followed to the latter. Effective code of ethics program must be adhered by to ensure the company achieves its set goals and objectives.

Code of ethics is the manner in which employees behave and relate within and without the company in an ethical manner. These are the general guiding principles and rules guiding the operations and activities within the company. It states what is wrong or right, bad or good, ethical or unethical to the company and the stakeholders (Duncan, 2009).

The employees must uphold professionalism in their daily operations and activities.

The rules and regulations governing research in the field of medicine must be adhered to so as not infringe other people's rights.

Each and every employee must keep proper and up to date records and ensure they are safely kept for easy retrieval of information when needed.

Dress code must be adhered to, for instance laboratory coats must worn at all times.

Purpose of the code of conduct

The code of conduct and ethics of American Medical Technologies, Inc. serves the following purposes:

To ensure uniformity to all employees in their daily operations. This will ensure that there is consistency in all activities applied by the staff to avoid confusion, misunderstanding and conflict during execution and implementations of policies and programs of the company (Business & Economics, 2009).

The code of conduct and ethics also serves as a means of regulating activities and ensuring checks and balances to all staff members or employees to avoid conflicts and misunderstanding.

It also serves as a means of ensuring all rules and regulations are adhered to.
