Community Colleges Student Success

In Life there are roads and there are choices. The right or left turn you make along the winding path throughout your life is and should be the one that makes you happy. Furthering your education may be your best and only way to make that right decision. At the present moment I am now currently attending Valencia Community College working towards my Associate Degree in Computer Science. My current major is Computer Science, although Computer Engineering with a focus in Software is what I will most likely pursue as my Bachelor of Arts (BA). Computer Science/Engineering is one of the most popular and fastest growing careers today. Today, computers are used in almost every aspect of our lives: in car engines, microwave ovens, video games, watches, telephones, desktops at home and work, mainframe computers in government and industry, and supercomputers expanding the frontiers of science and technology. Furthering your college education in an institute of higher learning may set you aside from your colleagues at Valencia. The college that I plan to attend after I obtain my AA degree at Valencia is the University Of Central Florida (UCF). Furthering my education is important and essential to my personal as well as life-long career goals. If you think the price of education is expensive, try the price of ignorance. You pay for ignorance everyday for the rest of your life.

The institution that I plan to attend after graduating from Valencia Is UCF.

When I transfer to the University of Central Florida I will continue my degree in the field that I choose. Valencia is a great place to start, but I believe to become more marketable in the job market it is viable that you graduate with a degree from an accredited university. The University of Central Florida has approximately 39,000 students. As one of the nation's fastest-growing universities, UCF is very multicultural. UCF offers strong components in aerospace engineering, business, education, film, health, nursing, social sciences, and tourism. UCF's programs in communication and the fine arts help to meet the cultural and recreational needs of a growing metropolitan area. The University also offers many graduate programs leading to masters and doctoral degrees. UCF is about 20-25 miles from my location in Northwest Orlando. Although I will not be living on campus, there are 8,000 students that live in residence halls, apartment-style options, and Greek housing. The five aspects of this university that interest me are: location, multicultural student body, easy access to and from home, various programs to participate in, as well as that UCF is an accredited university.

As with all colleges, transferring students have a more likely chance of getting accepted, rather than freshmen students who directly apply. The reason for this is that most core classes, or prerequisites can be taken at another university and then those applicable credits may be transferred. The prerequisites that I must take before entering to UCF to pursue my BA degree in Computer Engineering are: 9 Hours of Communications Courses ...
