Community Education

A community is a group of people, living together at a particular place. These people follow some a common set of norms and have common cultural values. There are millions of communities all over the world, based on religion, language, culture, etc, but all of these of communities are related to one another in one way or the other and thus they make a single community. Living in a community is very important for a human being because a sense of being in a community establishes tranquillity and harmony among the people living in the community. In a community, there is distribution of work among people, a feeling of connection, togetherness, and co-operation among people, all these things help a community build a healthy environment within the community that is filled with unity, tranquillity, and harmony. Being in a community brings the following feelings in a human being: (Richardson& Wolfe 2001 Pp. 22)

Every human being wants to feel a sense of belongingness to others, and this comes from the care and dependency of our friends in the community. Right from our childhood, we care for our loved ones and people, who are in our surroundings. This thing develops a need of belongingness among us, which helps us to build a community to satisfy this need. Without a community, we humans will not be able to fulfil our need of belongingness. (Popple 1995, Pp.54)

While living in a community, people can distribute and share their work, which leads to develop a sense of dependency on others. In our live, we have to be dependent on other people, excluding our family members, in one way or the other, e.g. cobblers repair our shoes, tailor makes clothes for us, etc. All such people fall in a community. (Cantle 2005 Pp87)

While living in a community people develop friendship with each other. Every human being has a need for being associated with others in one way or the other, which helps a community in creating tranquillity and harmony.
