Abstract

Community policing is a new philosophy of policing, which is based on the concept that creative forms of interaction between police officers to citizens. Community policing is the assigning of the same one or two policemen to a particular area so that they become familiar with the residents and the residents with them, as a way of reducing crime. This paper discusses the community policing in detail and the use of technology in the community policing.

Introduction

In this section, an introduction of community policing and technology usage is given. The idea of community policing was initially found in late 1970s. It included a wide set of progressive reforms for police practice that was created to boost community involvement in crime prevention efforts.

Introduction

Community policing is a new philosophy of policing, which is based on the concept that creative forms of interaction between police officers to citizens. The idea of community policing was initially found in late 1970s. It included a wide set of progressive reforms for police practice that was created to boost community involvement in crime prevention efforts. The use of Information Technology applications for Community policing has been proposed by the Law Enforcement agencies for improvement in their work. Community Police began its activities in the cities of Rawson, Trelew and Puerto Madryn on 29 April 1997. This body first passes through an experimental stage with a great acceptance by the wider community by encouraging them to expand its endowment, encompassing the cities of Comodoro Rivadavia, Esquel and Trevelin.

Community Policing

Community policing is the assigning of the same one or two policemen to a particular area so that they become familiar with the residents and the residents with them, as a way of reducing crime. Community policing is defined to reduce criminal activities within a particular community and plays an important role in managing crime rates to a minimum level, decrease the element of panic, with society members serving to recognize victims and suspects, detain offenders, convey the issues to the attention of police, or otherwise target the social problems which give rise to a crime problem in the first place (Thacher, 2001).
