Introduction

In our lives, during the period of academic life and sometimes just for the sake of pleasure we read a lot of books and articles. In an article there are various aspects that play their part in delivering the actual theme of the story or the nub to the readers. There are few aspects that leave an everlasting impact on us. The aim and purpose of this essay is also to undertake the discussion about the comparison and contrast of the two different articles. The articles that are chosen for the purpose of the comparison and contrast are “Does Watching Sex on Television Influence Teens' Sexual Activity” and “Cyber Savvy: Supporting Safe and Responsible Internet Use Sex and the Internet: Challenging the Myths”.

Discussion

There has been an ongoing debate about the impact of media on the society. Although it has affected the society positively, but its negative impacts are more than the positive ones. One of the negative impacts of media on the society is sexuality. The articles that are selected for the purpose of this assignment also talk about this issue.

The first article “Does Watching Sex on Television Influence Teens' Sexual Activity” talks about the impact of watching sexual content on the sexual behavior of teens. The article begins by mentioning few facts about the presence of sexual content in media. By mentioning a study “RAND Health” the article mentions that this has impacted teenage students the most, and this is the reason why early sexual intercourse has increased. According to a recent survey done in America, about 61% of all high-school students have had sex (Collins et al, pp. A-1). On the other hand, there is second article “Cyber Savvy: Supporting Safe and Responsible Internet Use Sex and the Internet: Challenging the Myths”. This article also deals with the same issue of influence of content of sexuality on the sexual behavior of people (Education World, pp. A-1). So, the first basis on which these two articles can be compared is the main purpose of the two articles. The main purpose further brings in limelight a point on which these two articles can be contrasted. Where the first articles talk about the influence of sexual content on the sexual behavior on teens through television then there is second article in contrast that talks about the sexual content influence generally and the medium that this article focuses on is internet.

In contrast to the first article the second article more focuses on predators and online world (Education World, pp. A-1). Whereas, the first article talks about the behavior and is the sexual behavior of the teens is the focus of the article.

On one aspect the two articles appear to be similar to each other. This aspect is that both the articles pay emphasis on the idea that people can be educated sexually and various issues related to the sex.
