Introduction

The main objective of writing this rough draft is to focus on the theme of “race and ethnicity” by contrasting and making comparison between two works of a short story and a poem. The poem is the “Child of the Americas” which is composed by Aurora Morale and the short story is “the Welcome Table” which is written by Alice Walker. In this essay, there is a tutorial which will help in analyzing the phenomenon of the concept of race and ethnicity and some other patterns of the world which are based and revolve around worldwide conceptions of discrimination. By doing the comparison of two content of story and the poem will help to defer the main biases and differences and will take a positive approach towards several relativity of the cultures. In order to understand the way of other people's lives, we must not create any kind of biasness as everyone in the world has their own identities and all the recognition are worthy in their own ways. Although, it is really a difficult task as it involves some emotionally deep feelings and beliefs associated with one's own culture and most of the times, people concern about the matters of race and ethnicities by making distinctions and biasness. Thus, there is a need to suspend such types of differences on the basis of race and ethnicities for better understanding the world and creating peace for oneself and for others.

The poem of Aurora Levins Morales which is known by the title of “Child of the Americas” is about tackling the matters of social diversification on the basis of different cultures. This poem is regarding an American who arrived from an amalgamation of several types of cultures by which her identity and heritage was differentiated her as an American. In the poem, the author is basically an immigrant and she consider herself as a woman with something unique just because of her different identity as being a citizen of America and because of her association with the culture of America. This type of assertion is very common in most of the Americans as in addition to the Indians of native America, all other people of America are migrants. The USA is a country today in the map of world just because of those migrants who entered in the America decades ago. Because of their efforts, the country of the USA was found by his founders who arrived through migrations. Because of entering people with so many distinctive ethnicities and races, America emerged as a country of diversified people with melting pots of distinctive cultures. This poem was written for the purpose of highlighting the diversification of people on the basis of ethnicities and races in America and such diversities are regarded as the perfect example of the features and characteristics of every American (Walker,1998).
