Computer Technology and Networked Organization

Introduction

Networking is the common term used for the connection of people, work and specific tasks which are related to our day to day work and are helpful in many ways. It is one of the significant factors of management especially related to computer technology. Network is a system which consists of routers, switches, hubs and interface cards. The purpose of those is to transfer date from one source to the another source through wires, radio waves and other sources. Network design is must before start of any work in order to avoid future issues and troubles. In order to relate the software and hardware network design is must and the design is made on the basis of size, shape and structure. For large structure, we design a larger network and for small structure with less shape and size we are required to design a smaller network. We gather requirements and then plan for network designing and according to plan the hardware accessories such as routers, cables, modems and cards are installed. Our Network should be secured and protected from viruses and other severe attacks within the organization and outside the organization. There must be solutions and device protecting softwares as any user can attack the network system. The organization should focus on such things that the private data and any other intellectual property must be protected. Unauthorized user cannot access the network without going through proper channel. All organizations are working more and more for securing and improving the network.

Discussion

Topology

Network is arranged geometrically and it is called topology. Topology is categorized into three structures. The rare types of topologies are mainly bus topology, ring topology and star topology.

Bus Topology

In a bus topology, all the computers are connected to the cable which is the central cable. This cable is known as bus cable or backbone. This is the simplest, and the most common form of networking and this are very easy to setup. This topology is often used by Ethernets.

Ring Topology

In a ring topology, computers must be attached with other two computers. They should be in a ring form structure, and this topology is difficult to set up although they create a high bandwidth.

Star Topology

In a star topology, all the computers are connected with the main hub which is located at the central position. All the data are passing through the central hub, and star topology is easy to install, but troubles are there as the data is passing through the single hub.

Securing and Maintaining Networks

The network must be secured as it has to keep performing the tasks and there are chances of loosing the data. There are chances that an unauthorized person can access the network without the permission. There are chances that any user can attack the network and, there are chances that the virus can prevail in the network. The application traffic should be strongly delivered, and most of the organizations are working to stop the application ...
