Executive Summary

When there is an issue of the long-term management of the intractable conflicts, the concept of conflict management takes a place. Conflict management considers a variety of ways in which people make an attempt to handle grievances. Conflict management use in any particular situation is dependent on social structure of the case. This is a self-evaluation report prepared by the author after conducting an analysis and gaining perspectives of being an effective conflict manager. The scope of the project highlights the rationale for this report. Literature review section provides with the researches highlighting the importance of conflict management and the skills pre requisite for managing a conflict. Methodology demonstrates the way the responses are collected and the way the report has been prepared with the help of other tools such as staging and video recording of role playing experience. With the help, of questionnaire response regarding the conflict management skills has been collected from the audience. Results highlights the analysis gathered from the literature included in the report. Some recommendations are proposed that will help author to better play a role of conflict management in a confronting situation. Introduction

As part of the Master's Program, this self-evaluation report is prepared with an objective to learn about a specific communication skill that is present within oneself, indicating the further improvement that are required to effectively survive in the provided field. The communication skill selected for this report is conflict management. Learning to manage and effectively resolve the conflicts that exist in a situation provides an individual with a number of opportunities. Managing the conflict with the help of effective communication skills provides with a chance to minimize the destructive behaviors that can provide negative impact on the smooth functioning of the activities (Algert, 1996, pp. 123-127). As part of this self-evaluation report, an attempt will be made to identify the factors and personal traits which help in effectively managing a conflict at a restaurant. At the end, the techniques and recommendations are even presented with an objective to highlight that how the conflict management skills can further be improved.

Scope of the Report

Self-Evaluation is basically considered as a contemplative assessment of one's own self against some benchmarked standards (MacBeath, 2004, pp. 87-91). Self-Evaluation activity operates with a rationale that it helps to identify what a person knows, do not know and what they would like to know. This process helps an individual to recognize the strengths and weaknesses and make them more familiar with own beliefs and misconceptions (Taylor, Neter, & Wayment, 1995, pp. 1278-1287).
