Extent of Media Influences in Our Society

Introduction

Media plays a vital role in the upbringing of any society. Media can contribute towards the improvement of societies, and inculcating a trend of human knowable and intellect through infotainment. Media is a popular mean of communication in any society too. The means of media communication includes Radio, TV, print media, new media etc. Media is the organization with the responsibility of development of the society. A large number of people influenced by the media (Berger 2007, p. 262). The history of media starts with the hand written promotional advertisement, which later converted into published and then by the passage of time now every communication media terns into the mean of communicating news like mobile phones, internet, TV, radio and so on.

Analysis and Arguments

Media has the responsibility to project the image of anyone. It may create the image or media can also ruin it. Many theorists said that media can influence positively in our life but, it can affect our life too. Media just only gives the view about some point but, it totally depends on the viewer or reader, in which way he take or grasp the information that is provided. Along with the benefits there are some drawbacks of the media (Croteau & Hoynes 2000, p. 203). For example, an advertisement that is printed on the billboard., the ad is of alcohol and women is the model there, but people may take the female as the main reason of sexual objects and because of the alcohol drinking a man may ruin his life. It is a general perception that has developed in the new generation i.e. students.

According to the developmental perspective, aggression in children is the result of the interaction of internal factors (temperament, intelligence) and environmental (family, neighborhood, school). Early socialization experiences are critical to the learning of aggression as a means of resolving conflict with peers. The child who uses aggression behavior may obtain short-term outcomes of interest: he gets what he wants because others fear him. In the long term, however, it is rejected by his peers; he has fewer opportunities to learn better social skills. In addition, he received negative reactions from others, which puts him in a situation to defend himself against a hostile environment (Sayre & King 2009, p. 45).

Media also helps to drives the economy, distributing advertising tactics and somehow accountable for the image of high-consumption good. Media also provides the models of the daily life which helps consumer society to take the decisions about their daily tasks. In the world of law, there are certain laws, legislation and act design by the passage of time in some regions. These laws are promoted by the media, which later design in the entire world according to their rules and regulations (Berger 2007, p. 265). Modern society is dominated by the Media bodies.
