Introduction

The purpose of this study is to expand the boundaries of the author's knowledge by exploring some relevant facts related to continuing education for nurses. The development of nursing science is increasing every day. Practitioners of this science are concerned with providing excellent services in the care of the person; increasing the theoretical level of practical research to achieve leadership in this profession. Nursing as a profession has been built up over the centuries and more rapidly in recent decades as medicine, these developments demand a quality education with human, scientific, technical and ethical, to meet all human responses of patient family and community, that have been modified by biotechnology developments, new lifestyles, socio-economic changes, new family structures due to migration, the environment polluted by the same man, minimizing appearance of the traditional cultures, especially in health aspects (Radley, 2008). In this paper, the author will examine should nurses have mandatory Continuing education.

Discussion & Analysis

This article presents the reason why nurses should have mandatory Continuing education. Most people assume that once a nurse has completed her education and has become registered, that is the “end” and that no more learning or education is required. This couldn't be further from the truth. There's more to nursing then just tending and looking after patients. This reality demands training and improved health practices with knowledge of the biological and social sciences such as sociology, anthropology, psychology, philosophy, ethics, bioethics, behavior and theology itself, to guide the international teamwork (Fisher, 2009). The nurse's training at undergraduate and postgraduate should put more emphasis on ethics and bioethics, as well as continuing education in a committed work between schools and hospital services and primary care such as health centers and sub centers.
