CONVERSATION ANALYSIS

Conversation Analysis

Introduction

The topic of study is conversation analysis. The analysis of the conversation focuses on how oral communication is organized in everyday exchanges. It describes the practices of verbal interaction as core activities that regulate social life. The word, from this point of view, reproduces and explains the social roles played by members of a given society and how this is structured. The conversational analysis or analysis of conversations (CA) was originally developed by Harvey Sacks and his collaborators (Stokoe & Elizabeth, 2006).

This discipline is part of the movement initiated by the ethno methodology. It is based on carefully studying what was happening in verbal interaction. Analyses of conversation specifically are interested in the sequential organization of turns of speech (Stokoe & Elizabeth, 2006).

The reason for choosing this participant is that the participant is from Saudi Arabia. It is known about the Arabs that most of them are not very good at speaking English. The analysis of the conversation focuses on how oral communication is organized in everyday exchanges. It describes the practices of verbal interaction as core activities that regulate social life. The central question of this perspective is how the participants used the conversation cooperatively to carry out social actions. You work for it with empirical data and inductively. Conversational interaction is conceived as institutionalized social practice under laws with empirical regularities. This is an autonomous research field, which is accessed through techniques of scientific observation. The conversation analysis is based on recording natural interactions in various situations, which explains that the relevant works of this stream of research devoted considerable space to describing the formation of the corpus procedures (mostly recording and transcript). The methodological basis is essential as decidedly inductive or conversation analysis of data and preliminary categorizations ignores, to establish them as you getting data in their research (Schegloff & Emanuel, 2007).
