Course Outline and Learning Outcomes

Course Plan Summary

I am currently studying health and social care. During the course, I have already studied the ways of prevention of diseases. I have also learnt the diagnosis of diseases and the measures that are needed for safeguarding children against the diseases that are common in children and are preventable and treatable. I am currently studying Health and Social Care Perspectives on Violence. In this learning outcome, I have to critically review a range of theoretical perspectives that serve to explain the causation of violence from an individual to a collective standpoint. I am also studying to assess the impact of violence on societies and individuals form a health and social care perspective. I am also currently studying to identify and evaluate preventative and interventionist strategies that are developed to work with victims of violence and perpetrators of violence. I am also studying Critical Awareness of Research. In this learning course, I am studying to demonstrate abilities in retrieval, critical interpretation, appraisal, ethical and methodological analysis of research in the health and social care arena. It also includes demonstrating analytical abilities in contextualizing research in terms of its ontology, epistemology and contribution to depth understanding of health and social care issues. It involves Demonstrate abilities in articulation of key issues in chosen health or social care topic, critical analysis and deep discussion of research studies within the chosen topic area and identification of future research required in that area. It involves learning to display mastery in identifying the applicability or otherwise of the use of a chosen piece of research in the field of health and social care. The course also includes career and personal development planning, health and social care perspectives on violence, critical awareness of research, innovations in mental health, assessing the health needs of populations.

What I Have Already Learnt

Prevention of diseases

In my course of study, I have learnt disease prevention. Disease prevention is one of the most important and crucial branches of medicine (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov). This branch focuses on helping people and training them against the possible contraction of diseases. This involves teaching and training individuals, as well as, communities. Prevention of diseases was learnt through the lecture notes and the course books. There was also practical work included in the course of preventing diseases (healthvermont.gov). Visiting communities and training them to prevent diseases and making sure that they learn to stay healthy was included. Making the students aware of the methods of prevention of diseases is an important learning outcome that has been studied in the course.

Diagnosis of Diseases

The second thing that I have already covered in my course is the diagnosis of diseases. In the beginning part of course, I learnt the diagnosis of some of the primary diseases (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov). The diagnosis of diseases refers to the process of learning to identify or determine the possible disorders or diseases.
