In general crime means some act that violate the law and rules. The word crime is derived from the latin root cerno, meaning "I decide, I give judgment". Originally the Latin word crimen meant "charge" or "cry of distress.". The Ancient Greek word krima (???µa), from which the Latin cognate derives, typically referred to an intellectual mistake or an offense against the community, rather than a private or moral wrong. In 13th century English crime meant "sinfulness".

Property Crime

Crime against property can be define as the crimes of theft where no force or threat of force is directed toward an individual Property crime includes burglary, larceny, theft, vehicle theft, arson, shoplifting etc. In property crime the victim is not affected but only the physical assets are stolen or theft. When the harm is provided against victim its come under violent crime. It is simply define as to affect an individual for getting cash or another valuable from him. Criminal law involves the prosecution by the state of wrongful acts which are considered to be so serious that they are a breach of the sovereign's peace.

Types of Property Crime

Burglary

Stealing of valuable is called Burglary.

Theft

Any act done that deprive the owner 's possession permanently or get use of other's property.to Stealing of cash is mostly defined under theft. According to 2005 survey, only 18% of reported cases of larceny/theft were settled in the United States.

Vehicle theft

It is the most common form of property crime .The statistic shows that about 15-20% of motor vehicle thefts are committed for their spare parts.
