To commemorate the 100th celebration of The spirits of Black Folk byW. E. B. Du Bois of one of the most significant publications ever released in American letters authors Stanley Crouch and Playthell Benjamin have in writing a book of essays titled reassessing The Souls of very dark Folk.

The spirits of very dark Folk is one of the most contentious books in publish, and has been since its first printing. The Souls of Black Folk is Du Bois's effort to display the humanity of very dark people by appealing to the audience's intellect through social research and simple ol' widespread sense. Based on the name alone, I considered reassessing would consist of authors Benjamin and Crouch debating the points and issues that originated from The Souls of very dark Folk. I was wrong. Ishould have learned long before not to suppose anything when it arrives to books. Benjamin began the publication with term papers that functioned as a short biography of Du Bois. Crouch followed Benjamin's lead with added term papers on Du Bois' life. The essays were beautifully in writing, but I marvelled why was I being conveyed through Du Bois's biographical details? certainly, any person involved in reading reassessing would currently known a little about Du Bois and have currently read The Souls of very dark Folk, right? Otherwise, why would any person, ignorant of both Du Bois and his signature work, desire to read Reconsidering? Reconsidering is an effortlessly digestible read, but far from what I would classify as a coffee table book. But, because of the amazing writing, I provided the biographical term paper a pass.
