Introduction

Leadership is a term that has been very full of adhesions management far removed from the values educational institutions and the first contributions were driven by the consideration that it was linked to the traits and characteristics of the leader. The tendency to move beyond technical models, hierarchical and rational to go to approaches that emphasize the cultural aspects, moral, symbolic of leadership is reflected, particularly around the 90, in the notion of transformational leadership, a concept originated in the field of business and soon moved to the educational environment (Gary, 2009). This "new leadership" is charismatic leadership, visionary, transformative, more flexible and inclusive and democratic community. In this paper, we will be discussing what charismatic and transformational leadership is all about. Addition to this we will be evaluating which type of leadership works well in teams and decisions, in groups, and discuss whether it works or not.

Transformational leadership

Transformational leadership involves the motivation of employees and members to perform normal expectations for meeting the organization's mission and for achieving organizational goals (Gary, 2009). It inspires staff and members to put aside personal self-interest for the common good of the organization and to have confidence in their ability to achieve the “extraordinary” challenges before them. The transformational leader is a person who may have a real impact on the behavior of employees (Burke & Collins, 2005). Transformational leadership is a leadership style that is defined as leadership that creates a valuable and positive change in the followers. A transformational leader focuses on convert others to help each other, looking for others to be encouraging and harmonious, and watch out for the organization as a whole. In this command, the leader increases the motivation, morale and performance of its group of followers.

First, a clarification, the term transformational born with the intent to explain the influence of some exceptional people, and their success equally exceptional in motivating others to make above-average performance, although the two concepts are similar, the object of study. In models of charismatic leadership, the focus is taken on the action of the person of the leader: as articulated, for example, present the vision, thrilling future of the organization members, as has been proposed as a model, as put in place a few lines of action and so on. The transformational leadership would be directed instead to promote changes in thinking and acting of the members of the organization.

Transformational leaders are generally more people oriented than results oriented, and transformational leaders are great motivators.
