Cyber crimes in the current situation makes up for a quarter of all crimes but this percentage are expected to grow as it is one of the fastest growing areas of crime. Criminal are taking full advantage of the speed, ease of use and the fact that they can remain anonymous and invisible from investigators, police officials and courts. This provides them with a chance to commit and pursue different varieties and types of crimes without being caught to the network of those compromised computers can be controlled remotely by cyber criminals. One of the major reason for using botnets is that criminal can easily remain hidden and can also make a lot of money by being bot herder. They just need to control and harness the processing power, bandwidth, storage of different business and personal computers for the purpose of frauds or other crimes and when trace back, these crimes will lead back to the computer of some innocent user (Microsoft, 2013).

Internet crimes that are related to financial industry include credit card frauds and money laundering. Criminals can easily used the credit card numbers of others to do online shopping or purchases without being traced back.

Cyber pornography is one of the major issues which is involved in distribution of pornographic images and videos through internet websites and online distribution. Child pornography and image distribution is also on the rise.

Online gambling is yet another abuse and misuse of internet technology which is done with the help of millions of websites and online facilities that are majorly hosted by servers that are present across the border thus offering the facility of online gambling to all the users present all over the world in different countries.
