Data Versus Information

Data are simple facts. When facts and numbers are processed, coordinated, organised or offered in a granted context so as to make them helpful, they are called Information.

It is not sufficient to have facts and numbers (such as statistics on the economy). Data in themselves are equitably useless. But when these facts and numbers are understood and processed to work out its factual significance, they become helpful and can be called Information. (LeVinson 2003)Data is the computer's language. Information is our transformation of this language.
