Introduction

The term childhood is a non-specific term that can imply to a varying range of years in human development. Development process refers to the period between infancy and adulthood. Precisely, childhood starts from birth which is full of innocence and concept of playing. This lively childhood an end at ado lances in which a child is officially becoming an adult. Human development is categorized in three stages by various scientists. These categories are early childhood, middle childhood and adolescence.

Early childhood

Early childhood starts at infancy stage when a child is born. It grows with time to the toddlerhood stage when infant child start speaking and walking independently. With diminishing parental assistance, the toddlerhood stage ends around the age of three. According to the National Association for the Early Education of Young Children, the early childhood ends by the end of seven or eight (Shore, 1997).

Middle Childhood

Middle childhood is a very interesting phenomenon in the human developmental stages. It begins from eight years when children start their early primarily education. This stage continues till child enters into the stage of puberty. Puberty typically marks the beginning of adolescence.

Adolescence

Adolescence is determined by the onset of puberty. Children may experience puberty in the preadolescence stage. End of adolescence vary with respect to county functionality and demographic conditions. This difference is due to the diverse cultural up brings that have a significant impact upon the legal and chronological development of human beings.

Physical Changes

Human appearance is changes with time and age. Physical changes in humans are particularly relates development in physical structure, height, weight and social relations. A difference in physical appearance is due to the genetic, ethnicity and culture that vary individual lifestyle and routine.

Understanding Physical Changes in Young Children

Growth and development cycle of young children is extremely captivated. The easiest task of daily routine serves as a challenge for them. Children adjust their own physical abilities to do different routine work such as seeing and recognizing, holding a cup, crawling around different objects and other daily routine work. This task requires physical strength with strong coordination among various parts of the body. Such developments are considered to be the developmental moments when young children develop a strong relationship with parents who guide them in developing such skills and abilities (Alan, 1997).

The development of muscular control is the first step in the process of physical development. The process of development comprises of two significant categories i.e. normative development and dynamic development.

Normative Development

In normative development, the normal capabilities of young children are taken into consideration with certain limitations. Normative development differs with different ethnic group. It typically indicates the range what a child can and cannot perform in a given time.
