Introduction:

Coaching refers to supporting an individual or helping an them to achieve a goal or complete a task. Mostly, coaching involves a fee which the client has to pay when he/she has acquired the service from the coach. Therefore, there is not one but many techniques used to coach people and children alike. Different practices mean that the client needs special attention or maybe the level of span is not proper (Eysenk, 2001, p.100).

However, Coaching has certain ethical codes of conduct and has to maintain certain standard, when coaching individuals. According to the Association for Coaching, there basic motive is commitment to maintain good practice. Coaches are required to recognize personal and professional limitations in order to avoid any discrepancies. On a personal level, the coach needs to maintain his/her own good health and fitness to practice and impart knowledge or else the coach can be withdrawn from their practice, till they can further support their clients. Also they are responsible for keeping in full contact with their clients, and also they should be fully informed of the coaching contract, terms and conditions before the initiation of the session. They need to respect the culture, religion, gender and race of their client as this is a highly sensitive issue (Eysenk, 2001, p.100).

Moreover, on a professional level, they need to respect the client's requirements and if needed the clients should be referred to other appropriate services such as counsellors, psychotherapists or other specialist services. In particular, Coaches are required to be sensitive to the possibility that some clients will require more psychological support than is normally due to any past case of abuse or trauma available within the coaching remit. In these cases, referral should be made to an appropriate source of care, e.g. the client's GP, a counsellor or psychotherapist, psychological support services and/or agencies. Therefore, coaches are required to main appropriate records of the work with their clients, in order to ensure that the records are accurate and that reasonable security precautions have been taken in order to protect their identity. The client is the coach's liability and it is there responsibility to take care and secure the client.
