a) Nominal measurement

At this level of measurement set distinct categories that do not involve a specific order. For example, if the unit of analysis is a group of people, to classify the category can be set sex with two levels, male (M) and female (F), respondents only have to indicate their gender, does not require a regular order. So, if you assign numbers to these levels only serve for identification and may be either: 1 = M 2 = F or, the numbers can be reversed without affecting the measurement: 1 = F 2 = M. In summary nominal scale numbers assigned to events in order to identify them. There is no quantitative factor. Used to name the unit of analysis in research and used in prisons, schools, sports, etc.b) Measurement Ordinal

Categories established by two or more levels that imply an inherent order among themselves. The ordinal scale of measurement is quantitative because you can sort the events based on the degree possession of an attribute or feature. For example, educational institutions tend to be entry-level students for height, developed but do not provide quantitative measures of the subjects. (Cole, 1996) The most common forms of ordinal variables are items (reagents) establishing a series of attitudinal expressing an attitude levels of agreement or disagreement with respect to some reference.

For example, to the item: The Mexican economy dollarized, the respondent can mark your answer according to the following alternatives:

___ Strongly agree

___ Agree

___ Not important

___ Disagree

___ Strongly disagree

Previous responses alternatives can be coded with numbers from 1 to 5 suggest a set order but do not imply a distance between a number and another. The attitude scales are ordinal but treated as continuous variables.c) Measurement Interval

The measurement interval has the characteristics of nominal and ordinal measurement. The interval scale applied to continuous variables but lacks an absolute zero point. The best example of this type of measurement is a thermometer, register zero degrees centigrade indicates the freezing point of water as 100 degrees Celsius recorded indicates the boiling point is arbitrary non-real zero, which means that at this point there is no temperature. A person in a math test with a score of zero does not mean lack of knowledge; the zero point is arbitrary because there is still a measured characteristic.d) Measurement of Reason

A ratio scale of measurement includes the features of the previous three previous levels of measurement (nominal, ordinal and interval). Determine ...
