EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The military is a great choice for most people, and once a person separate's from the military, that person is usually a benefit to society. There are many major corporations that recruit people with military experience. There are even companies that will try to recruit a soldier who leave the military to work for that company. This thesis will show examples of separated or retired service members that have transitioned from their military service to the civilian workforce. The thesis will start with a background of different army personnel, their time while serving in the military and their life after they were separated from the military and rejoined the civilian workforce. This thesis will give clear examples of each person which will allow the reader the ability to decide if each person was a benefit or a burden on society. The objective of this study is to give the reader a view of people that have done great things upon leaving the military and a view of people that have done terrible things upon military separation or while serving in the military.

CHAPTER 01: INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

For years now, the United States Military has been looked upon as a highly disciplined career that offers training, medical and dental benefits and a retirement after 20 years of active service. Parents, veterans, friends and relatives have told their sons, daughters, and people looking for a career to join the military for many different reasons. Some of the common reasons include learning a trade, traveling to see the world, make a good living, and a good retirement. Many people throughout history and even now in this present time have been told by a judge to either join the military or go to jail. The judge would offer such an alternative in hopes that the discipline taught by the military would turn the person's life around for the better and that the person would no longer be a burden on society. The military is a great choice for most people and once a person separate's from the military, that person ...
