Introduction

About twenty years ago schools were firmly associated with the girls in brown dresses and aprons and boys in suits. However, in early 90's the school uniforms were abolished, allowing the children and their parents to choose the clothes for school. But now many schools appeared again with uniforms. School uniforms are considered beneficial because it works as an identity for a student studying in certain school. It differentiates different students studying in different schools.

Uniforms help a student perform well in school. It serves as an identity of the educational institute a student studies at. It sets a more serious tone within the school environment that is favorable for learning, and it can improve performance of the students at school (Anderson, 2002).

There is an attraction of social groups in educational institutes among children. They like to be a part of groups in schools. Uniform at school teaches the student how to identify themselves among a bunch of similarly dressed children.

Discussion

Now a days it is logical to discuss issues about school; today we highlight the advantages and disadvantages of school uniforms, an issue that reopens a debate every year on whether to or not to use this type of clothing. Dress code is implemented to for practical and social factors; a uniform is a terrific equalizer of social status. It stops the element of inequality among students no matter what background they come from and how rich or poor they are (Rubenstein, 2001).

People have different opinions and views over this debate. Some support the use of uniforms in school, and some do not support it. Putting more light to it, we will discuss the importance of Dress code in schools and its pros and cons, as well. Dress code in schools is a part of ethical values implemented in educational institutes. It eliminates the element of social inequality among children and teaches them the value of life. Dress code plays a hugely significant role in making the students feel proud of them. Students can start identifying themselves as an integral part of their institution and gradually they will learn to have a sense of pride. Dress code in schools gives the children a feeling of school spirit. It instills a feeling of belonging and promotes respect for an institution (Wilson, 2009).

There are many benefits of implementing dress code ethics in schools. A school is not a place of fashion display, it is a place where education, moral values, social ethics is taught. Dress code ethics eases the problem about children worrying about what they are going to put on the next day at school. A uniform is a symbol of discipline and helps evade the practice of materialism.
