Drug Addiction and How it affects the Body

Introduction

Drug Addiction is a relatively recent construct in a social phenomenon. That is, regardless of the use of psychoactive drugs for many years, drugs only became a social trouble when the working of a member of a specific group or the actions of the group itself became weakened through another's drug-taking activities. Therefore, drug addiction evolved through the impact and interconnectedness which anyone's behavior has on another.

No decided definition of addiction exists among psychological & medical theorists and researchers. Though the word addiction belongs to the Latin addic-tus, meaning “to devote” or “to deliver”, it was not until Shakespeare modified the word in “Henry V” in which it had a meaning close to that of these days. Nowadays, Shakespeare's reference to addiction referred more to the king's preferences for theology than any drug use. In spite of this development of the dialect, the people of ancient Rome and Greece recognized that many stuffs (e.g., poppy) were able to producing different altitudes of reliances. Drug addiction is inflexible nuisance in society with no obvious resolution within reach. The thanatological significance of this topic is unquestionable and deep given the point of mortality and morbidity from drug use. The perception of addiction is complex and not simply defined, perhaps due to the mess of both compulsive and willful behavioral examples. (Zili 20 )
