Earth

Earth is a little, rocky planet which carries a variety of life! As far as we understand, soil is unique from all other satellites in this respect. Temperatures at the Earth's center (called the "core") may be as high as 7500 K - That's hotter than the exterior of the Sun. The soil is the densest major body in the solar system. This means that it's the most "compact" of all the planets. For example, you have two loaves of bread, both of the same amounts. You shatter one loaf of baked bread flat. Even though both loaves are of the same amount, the smashed bread is *denser* because it is more compact (Reilly, 2009).

The soil is 4.5 to 4.6 billion years vintage, but the oldest renowned rocks are less than 4 billion years old. Rocks older than 3 billion years are rare. The oldest fossils of dwelling organisms are less than 3.9 billion years old!

From the viewpoint we get on soil, our planet appears to be big and sturdy with an endless sea of air. From space, astronauts often get the effect that the Earth is little with a slim, fragile level of atmosphere. For a space traveler, the distinguishing Earth features are the blue waters, brown and green land masses and white clouds set against a black background (Dalrymple, 1991).

Many illusions of traveling in space and examining the wonders of the universe. In reality all of us are space travelers. Our spaceship is the planet Earth, traveling at the speed of 108,000 kilometers (67,000 miles) an hour.
