An emergency situation is one where there is an urgent requirement of solution and help such as earthquake, tsunami or fire. It can be a natural disaster or human caused error, as well. The paper also discusses how to tackle an emergency situation. The action plan to follow in an emergency situation like fire is discussed in the paper. The paper also comprises of emergency response unit, equipment response to an emergency. The paper explains leadership characteristics and qualities in an emergency.

Introduction

An emergency situation is an incident which poses an immediate risk to life, health, property or the environment, and which requires immediate remedial action. An emergency is a situation out of control that is presented by the impact of a disaster. Any event capable of affecting the daily operations of a community, potentially leading to casualties or damage, affecting the social and economic fabric of the community involved and can be treated effectively with the resources of primary care agencies or local emergency (Holman, 1999).

There are many types of emergencies, each of which has to be treated in a manner determined by the competent authorities. Some of the most important are:
