Introduction

There are some common biometric techniques used in many organizations for verification and identification of employees like facial recognition, voice identification, gait recognition, iris recognition, fingerprint identification, hand geometry, and signature recognition. All these techniques are also used in many other places like criminal identification, building security, ATM, passport control, and forensic science. In our research we are using fingerprint technique fro keeping attendance record (Yongqiang, 2006, 1). The finger print techniques is the most common and effective techniques used by many organization for obtaining attendance record. Verification of fingerprints is reliable and convenient method to verify identity of a person. It is believed that two people will never have a same fingerprint that's why it is considered as the most reliable and popular way for verification of identity or authenticity of a person when security is a problematic question (Abdulmotaleb, 2008, 47).

The main purpose behind the effectiveness of fingerprint technique is person's uniqueness that arise from his/her personal characteristics or behaviour. It is globally proven that every individual have different characteristics of fingerprint. Permanence means that a person's fingerprints are permanent, unique, and different which are impossible to forgot, change or stolen. On the other hand collectability means quantitatively finger prints can be measured. Currently there are different uses of fingerprint verification which are very common like authentication to logon machine and others. Usage of fingerprint recognition will increase the expectations depending on the factors like awareness on easy to use method for security, small fingerprint capturing devices, and fast computing hardware (Jayawardana, 2008, 13). The fingerprint of each person is unique, that is why it is the currently used to identify a person from another. Fingerprint attendance systems are designed to identify your staff. Indeed, just put a finger, the clock and attendance recognizes the fingerprint of their staff (no need to press anything else, just put your finger).

The attendance of employees is one of the main issues in many organizations because of various factors. Previously manual attendance system was used by most of the organization which was very difficult to maintain because with other responsibilities maintaining attendance record was an inconvenient task. Technology has come up with new automatic system keeping this issue mind which has automated the entire process of maintaining and taking attendance.

The technology has made so many changes that organizations today feel that manual attendance taking is unnecessary and unsuitable to mordents trends (Ortega, 2004, 50). New and advanced technology today is offering great developments in form of appropriate gadgets like Attendance Door Lock, Smart Finger Time Attendance system, RFID Card Readers, Security Fingerprint Cards, Door Access Control Time, Fingerprint Reader or Enroller, Fingerprint Terminal, Door Access Control Time Attendance System, Fingerprint Access Control Attendance, and many more (Weaver, 2006, 96).
