Employee Volunteering and Social Capital: Contributions to Corporate Social Responsibility

Employee volunteering has become a popular strategy for corporate community involvement, and further corporate citizen companies. Employee volunteering is portrayed as a human resource development strategy, social investment strategies and the sources of social capital. This study investigated the extent to which employees participate in voluntary work in the social capital and the three UK-based multinational corporations and their dynamics. We examine why the companies, communities, agents and employees involved in employee volunteering, the performance of their contribution to society; formal or informal networks, how to create, ownership and responsibility between the explicit and implicit actor the perceived benefits and performance of employees engaged in voluntary work.

We outline the way in which the generation and maintenance of social capital and employee volunteering program benefits. However, we note that social capital is dynamic; it depends on the formation and maintenance of environmental factors and those facing the relationship between employee volunteering requirements. We reveal the tension and close the socio-economic balance and the end of the volunteer staff to strengthen social capital as a source of employee volunteering suggestions. (Pierre, 2003, pp. 83-98)

Introduction

The traditional role of business in society as an economic unit in the past few decades has been challenged. More and more companies are faced with expectations, play a more active role in society. Their challenge is to act as a 'good corporate citizen, and become more actively involved in social welfare work of the community, they, therefore, in charity and volunteer work as a corporate citizen as an agent in the past inches.
