Breach of Confidentiality

A situation when some confidential information or something that should be kept secret is shared or communicated to some third party that should not be knowing it by any chance. For example: If someone shares his/her personal stuff with somebody, then that person entrust the other person and have a belief that his/her secrecy shall be maintained rather than being disclosed or shared with anyone else whom he or she is not comfortable with. However, if a person gives the right to the other person to share his/her information and allow him/her on this, then it will not be considered as a breach of confidentiality.

As per the requirement of this paper, it should be stayed confined to the arena of Medical Sciences. A doctor just not has the liability of curing/recuing a patient's life, but he/she is also responsible in adhering and maintaining to a number of norms and ethics that come along. A doctor is a personification of a person on whom a patient depends and is open too. A patient shares a lot of his/her person conditions and issues that he/she might never feel comfortable to discuss with. This is where the ethical issues come into play. Doctor not only has to listen and understand the situation of the individual, but also has to throw all the secrets deep down his chest. Even he/she cannot share this information with his/her very close family member or immediate blood relatives too. This is not something that has very strong legal or legitimacy, but it has a lot to do in the medical sciences. No wonders a doctor is said to be an angel. On contrary, if the patient is ready and allows the doctor to discuss and share his/her personal issues/situation with third party, only then the doctor has a complete right to share it (American Medical Association, N.D.).

In a Nut Shell - It is thus a moral value of a doctor-patient relationship that the secrecy/medical condition/treatment or any such information could only be disclosed upon the consent of the patient.
