Summary of incident

BP Texas City refinery faced one of the worst industrial disasters in recent history of United States on March 23, 2005, at 13:20, due to the explosion, 15 people were killed and 180 injured in the fire, this resulted in the heavy financial loss of more than $1.5 billion. There were occupied trailers too close to an isomerisation unit (ISOM) that handled hazardous materials. The 'blow down' drum on the unit could have been fitted with a flare, so that highly flammable liquid would burn off, not leak into the atmosphere, the venting of flammable from the stack.
