Ethics is the set of beliefs and set of values an individual has. The values and beliefs can vary from society to society. An act can be unethical in a distinct society. It should be made sure that every act should be ethical. Ethics is followed everywhere, in organizations, at schools, in homes etc. Similarly there are ethics for hiring and firing people, as well. When an organization does not require the services of an employee, it should follow the ethics to get rid of the people.

Nursing is a very broad facility, which cover several issues. No matter, the person is rich or poor; old or young; male or female, he or she needs to avail these services. Nursing deals with individual patients. Nurses are solely responsible for maintaining the integrity and ethics of the health profession. They face regular challenges in their daily life while making decisions. Code of Ethics gives a framework of values that are followed by Nursing Professional to carryout the work effectively. The issue of Ethics in Nursing is a subject that covers everything such as regulations and considerations regarding the services they offer to the patients. The key ethical aspects that are followed in my institute are given below; this code of ethics is discussed from the viewpoint of the patients and medical staff (McLean, 2005).

The first ethic policy that is followed at the health care institute is Patient Privacy. The landmark verdict of ethics in health care has been to protect privacy of patients with the characterization of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability. This law shields the privacy of personal health confidentiality provisions and information of the Patient Safety Act, which helps to identify information that is used to examine security events and improve safety of the patients.

The other ethical aspects that are followed is Paternalistic Medicine. Paternalistic medicine is a situation in which a doctor feels that he has the power to reveal, or not reveal the information related to the patient medical conditions at their discretion. This entails that the doctor plays a paternalistic role in deciding the course of action for treatment, instead of sharing the decision-making process with other providers and patients.
