Ethnic Differences

Ethnicity refers to relationship with a particular cultural group. It is defined by shared cultural practices as well as customs holidays, language and food. People belong to different ethnicity groups. For example in USA there are different ethnicity groups. People can share the same nationality but their ethnic group is different depending on the cultural groups they belong.

Ethnicity is a population of human beings whose members identify with each other, either on the basis of a presumed common descendants or origin, or recognition by people belong to different ethnic group represent their own culture(Banton,2007). Many ethnic differences also arise, which we are observing through history.

Ethnicity is a complex term and it has many meaning. Nowadays, it is more associated with race which a more correct word which represents humans who belong to same national origin ,culture, religious, territorial traits, linguistics. Members of an ethnic group represent continuities over time while it is considered that all of the as a recent invention. Ethnicity is strongly influenced by culture.

In 1980s and early 1990s, there have been many developments in the study of ethnicity and nationalism. There has also been a similar development in the social sciences.

As far as social anthropology is concerned, ethnicity has been a main subject of concern since the late 1960s, further more it remained a central focus for research in the 1990s.

Social anthropology is considered as a unique position to investigate these processes. Approaches which are concerned with anthropology also help us to understand different ethnic relations how they perceive things and how they discuss it with their group as well as other groups.
