HR's most distinguishing virtue according to the authors

Human Resource is one of the most important functions of the organization that can help them to achieve competitive edge over the competitors. It is difficult to quantify each effort that is being made by the workforce for the proper functioning of the business. The physical environment and the relationships network are the important elements having an effect on the organizational performance but it remain a difficult task to quantify them. The quality, service, or the productivity metrics all are manmade and thus are not considered to be completely accurate. A human error can make lead to the underestimation of the true value of the human resource. Thus, the most distinguishing virtue as is being highlighted by the authors is the quality of the human resource that may remain underestimated with the help of the financial numbers. They are the strategic partners of the organization complementing all the aimed at achieving the organizational outcomes. An employee might have the capabilities, but due to some issue might not be able to perform up to a mark. Sometimes, the favoritism makes it difficult for employees to be on the good books of the organization. The point highlighted by the authors is true and the present scenario provides valuable importance to the fact. It is difficult to assess the value of HR if the necessary information is absent that provide details to the CEOs and shareholders to understand what return they are getting on their investment (Pelletier, 2004). Thus, the overall aim of the organization to remain completive in challenging environment is getting affected by the strict quantifiable measurement tools used by organization.
