Critique of Research Article

Introduction

In this paper, research articles are critiqued, using an evidence based framework for evaluation. This Evidence based framework used is PICO analysis. PICO is a method of putting together a search strategy that allows you to take a more evidence based approach to literature searching when authors are searching bibliographic databases like Medline, PubMed and Embase (Snowball, 2010:167-173).

PICO stands for: (Huang, 2009: 359-63)

The selected research article can be found in CINHAL database. This paper was published in journal of advance nursing. The research articles belongs to the field of advanced nursing (Quick, 2008: 48). This evidence based framework for evaluation is specific to the musculoskeletal compliant arising from occupational related injuries (Quick, 2008: 48).

Rational For Choosing This Article

The rationale behind choosing this article is because today researchers are interested in gaining knowledge regarding some major potential problems associated to the musculoskeletal conditions. Epidemiological research involving musculoskeletal conditions is particularly vulnerable to many of the methodological problems that can arise, especially when the exposures of interest are occupational (Rennie et al 2000: 2008-12). Fortunately, valid and useful study findings can be obtained and used, if the investigator and the reader are aware of the potential problems and pay careful attention to them (Driscoll, 2006: 145-147) . This article aims to describe the most important challenges faced by researchers conducting epidemiological research involving musculoskeletal conditions in the occupational setting and to consider some of the potential solutions, using real examples to illustrate the issues (Rennie et al 2000: 2008-12) .

Relevance of the Article to Clinical Practice

This article is relevant because it will help me in understanding and implementing strategies to monitor the group of workers in clinical practice.

OCC provides a variety of health and safety services to companies and their employees. is a specialty that provides health and safety programs to workers and community groups. (Rogers, 2011: 243-246) They focuses on promotion and restoration of health, prevention of illness and injury, and protection from work-related and environmental hazards. (Michie, 2010: 134) One main goal of OCC is promoting employee health and providing cost-effective safety assessments (Driscoll, 2006: 145-147). Many occupational diseases of the past have been eliminated. (Oakley, 2008: 120) Workplaces have come a long way as far as cleanliness and fewer dangers. Today, however, employees change jobs more often than they used to. Each new employee brings possible illness or medical conditions to a workplace. (Rogers, 2011: 243-246)
