The Movie Company Men

It is important to note that the movie Company Men was made by writer John Wells who has also been a labor leader, and his ideology reflected in the movie when he directed it. He has also been the President of Writers Guild of America West. The movie revolves around the life of three men who, during a course of one year, are trying to survive in the company while downsizing takes place to a major extent. The circumstances in the movie depict how the lives, families and communities of those employees are affected who work hard at a company for years and are later on laid off when downsizing takes place (New York Times, 2010).

The concept of Executive Compensation

The concept of executive compensation can be understood by understanding why compensation for managers on the executive layer is different from the compensation and benefits provided to other employees. This concept is applied in most of the organizations. The employees who are classified as eligible to receive executive compensation include president of the company, the chief executive officers (CEOs), vice presidents, chief financial officers (CFOs), directors, and upper-level managers such as departmental heads or regional heads if the organization is international. These employees are entitled to receive compensation of executive level due to the nature of their jobs.

How the lifestyle of assistants at lower corporate levels is different from higher level executives

With the changing times, the needs, requirements and the job description defining the role of managers at all levels has changed to a drastic extent. Technological advancements have taken place with the change in time and this has allowed managers to operate more effectively and efficiently by using technologies like e-mail, mobile devices, voice mail and online calendars. Companies, however, have had to deal with various issues which is what they use to explain the need to downsize workers. They are faced by various challenges such as to cut costs, improve the input levels of works by enhancing worker efficiency, reduce head count, and need to flatten the structures of organizations. These problems have given rise to the lessening of number of assistants at different corporate levels in most of the corporations.
