PROJECT PROPOSAL

Introduction

AbuDhabi Men's College is planning to expand the gymnasium at the garden opposite the current gymnasium of AbuDhabi Men's college. The new expansion will be have new equipment and facilities to attract more students to use the gymnasium. We propose a total built up area of the gymnasium expand to be approx. 180m2 from 85m2, that will accommodate 40 users at the same time. The project is expected to contain design and construction in one package and one contract. This document describes in detail the scope assumed and our execution methodology. The estimated design, built, and supervision value is AED 1,000,000

Business Need/Problems or opportunities

Nobody expects to build an extension without having some problems along the way. But there are ways of managing projects that can help avoid problems, or at least flag them up so that they can be dealt with before they become too big to handle. If problems do occur then there are two things that need to be dealt with, first, find the solution and put it in place, then secondly, find out whether you are going to have to foot the bill for any costs involved, or pass it on to one of your suppliers or contractors.

The key to keeping problems at bay is close project management. Although you might not like doing it, you need to get progress reports from your builders and contractors on a regular basis. Try to make it obvious that you are just checking with them, so that they don't feel that you are getting at them, although this can be difficult to achieve. You need to check that they are on schedule, that they have all the supplies they need, that the next skill that they will need is lined up to come in on time, and that no-one has encountered any problems that are going to slow them down.

Project Objective

The objective of the project is to expand the AbuDhabi Men's College gymnasium. The estimated design, built, and supervision value is AED 1,000,000. To design and build new gymnasium expansion within 10 weeks that will accommodate new facilities to be able to receive more students.

Scope of Work

The new expansion should be connected and opened with the old gymnasium.

New emergency exit from the side of the new expansion.

Good ventilation as required by the Government Authority

Big windows around the building to give good view.

All doors and windows must pass NFRC class 40 energy ratings.

Floor of the gym must be suitable for gym activities.
