Introduction

Face-book was launched in 2004, initially as a space for current college friends and classmates to interact, though it has since broadened to appeal to other groups. Until 2007, the site was considered to be more “closed” than its major competitor, MySpace, which does not require a user to give accurate personal information in order to build a profile. Face-book has grown tremendously, but still plays second fiddle to MySpace, which by far dominates the online social networking arena. Face-book has influenced social capital, or the resources accumulated through the relationships among people, and allows for the formation of new social networks. The major issues in medium theory are its historical development, the principles of media epistemology (the impact of predominant media on human thought and knowledge), and its social effects. Face-book is a real revolution in terms of sociological perspective of communication with the creation of a media that has very special interactive features. This revolution has even more serious consequences as it is discreet and connected millions of people from the different ethnic backgrounds to form their social networks. Social networks are a deep structural movement that invades the daily lives of users. Surfers, who devote much time, time taken from other activities in other media. And most of the time they invest to acquire an incredible power, that to communicate, provide feedback, find hundreds or thousands of people who think like them.

Its essence is that society, although it occurs as a result of the interaction of individuals, becomes an independent reality which, firstly, is autonomous with respect to other kinds of reality, and secondly, developing according to its own laws, and thirdly, we have primacy of the structures and functions of society in relation to the individual and functions of consciousness and behavior, that is the reality of the individual is secondary (Durkheim, 1895).

Social fact is external to the individual and has a coercive effect on him. Social facts can be tangible (the society itself, its social structure) and intangible (morals, values ??and norms, collective consciousness, beliefs). Face-book is perhaps the most significant initiative on research on how SNS (social networking services), specifically Face-book, affect how we learn, relate, perceive social reality and participate in its development. Its main objective is to experiment with new teaching and learning routines, settled in the collaborative creation and contribute to the generation of knowledge, encourage the development of techniques and basic social skills to participate in contemporary society. In other words, it overcomes the individualistic perspective of structuralism to propose collaborative and systemic forms of understanding reality, in view of a practical orientation: to collaborate in social development.
