Introduction

Eco-map tends to illustrate all the aspects of an individual's life through graphical representation. It is used by social workers for counseling of individuals. The purpose of using this eco-map is to mend families and provide their assistance and advice to those people that are in trouble. It identifies the relationships that individual has in its life, it reflects all the aspects of an individual's life, that may include; spiritual, social and family perspectives if human life. In an eco-map family members will be included. It assesses the family relationships with the environment. It assists in visualizing the connection that family has with the external environment, and simultaneously reflects the quality of these connections that they have.

Discussion

An eco-map illustrates all the perspectives of an individual's life that range from, social to religious and family life. It tends to highlight the information that is associated with linking family life and social life of an individual. Eco-map reflects the relationship of each family member to their community. This identifies the personality traits of an individual, the culture he belongs to and consequently the characteristics and behavior of that individual, thus it is frequently used by social workers to examine the behavior of individuals and provide them advice accordingly. It is a tool that is used to map the family information at all levels of the environment. These can be used for recording information that is relevant to the family system, subsystems and individuals. There are different levels for an eco-map, micro-level, mezzo-level and macro-level. Family systems and individual characteristics are mapped at the micro level. At the mezzo level extended family and community that an individual receives are located. Finally the macro level reflects the other aspects of human life that may include social, spiritual and religious affairs.
