The primary challenge associated with the job of journalism is the ability to develop content which can satisfy a wide variety of readers. The magazines have a particular follower ship. The key skill, is the ability of the writer or editor is to develop the content, which can not only keep the current readers happy, but also target untapped reader segments. The increased competition in the industry, plenty of online magazines and online presence of current magazines are forcing writers to come up with unique articles and news which can not only differentiate the magazine from other publications but can also exceed the expectation of the readers. To be unique, one need to use unconventional methods to extract facts and information which exposes the writers and editors to an ethical code of conduct they follow. The numerous ethical misconducts carried out by journalistic community and the recent issue of “Phone Hacking Scandal” has highlighted the need for journalistic community to be more vigilant in their ethical practices and they have formed committees to avoid such incidents from happening in future (Adegoke, 2012). The use of unethical practices might not only affect the individual but can also affect the jobs and career of the people working around us. Another challenge for some journalist is to make the choice between publishing the facts and face restriction by governments like China, or to neglect the real truth behind the issues and publish which is acceptable to all the people (Smith, 2011).
