Major facts about this case study are Fauquier Gas Company is one of the good companies for Gas. Company mostly deals with the areas which where agricultural areas but now converting into commercial and residential areas. Company requires 31/2 miles of gas line for their new project which has to be completed by September of the current year and 10 miles gas line till next year (Burt, et al, 2010).

Mr. Murphy is the supply chain manager of the company who looks after the procurement and all other areas of supply chain management. Mr. Clive Byers is the construction project manager who looks after the construction area of the projects. Mr. Pat Wilson is design engineer and Sam Law is construction project engineer who approves the design. All these areas are under the control of vice president for operations.



Major Problems

There are few problems in this situation in which one them is the lack of communication. Supply chain department is not aware of the new projects which are going to take place and they did not receive information through their higher authorities instead they receive information through other departments.

Another issue is related to projects. No specific teams are made for the projects to carry out smoothly. Companies prefer cross functional teams for projects in which they involve specialists from each department which are required. Another most important issue is related to time. No specific time is given to each department because of which there are many chance that project can be delayed.
