Executive Summary

Pressure hydraulics continues to operate as a successful business in various cities. The business deals with providing services to the hydraulic systems of the vehicles and some of the earth moving systems. With the growing business operations, the owner of the business Allan Taylor is considering the deployment of I infrastructure, so that the business processes may become more aligned and efficient.

After thorough analysis of the current operational and business processes of the Pressure hydraulics, I recommend that the company should utilize the Computerized Information Systems, in order to improve the overall efficiency of the business. As the requirement of the company's director, the objective of this report is to analyze the feasibility of accounting and payroll information systems for the company.

The paper includes a brief description of the problems faced by the company, which is the major motivation for shifting the information processing tasks from the manual systems to the computer based systems. The major problems include collaboration between the service centers, order management process, inventory management process, human resource management and pay roll process.

After describing the problems, the paper discusses the objectives that should be achieved by the implementation of the new system. We also proposed the solution for the company to overcome the problems, which is to implement the computerized infrastructure. The solution mainly includes the implementation of accounting information system, which would incorporate order management system. We also propose payroll system, which would need the implementation of HR system. In addition, management information system would be implemented to provide ease of monitoring and strategic decision making to the company's owner.

The paper also discusses the development plans and proposes recommendations for maintaining the operational efficiency of the systems. The recommendations are essentially made from the perspective of information system security.

Description of the problem

Pressure hydraulics is currently working with three branches of service centers, offering the maintenance and other services for automobiles. With the continuing success, the owner of the business aims to expand the business further, by opening branches at new locations. Even in this era of advanced information and communication technologies, all of the service centers of Pressure hydraulics rely completely on manual systems for executing the operations of data collection, order management, pay roll and financial records. This section describes the major problems, which the company has to face due to its reliance on the manual information processing systems.

The first problem which the owner is facing with the manual operations at all of his branches is the monitoring and control. Currently, the owner has to physically spend portion of day at each of the service center. Clearly, this would become impossible as the service centers would begin to operate in different cities.
